Research examined young people s views and experiences of public transport in Scotland. Young people were found to follow the behaviour patterns of their parents. Public transport operators were found not to view young people as a target group, because they are not seen as being a particularly profitable market.

A leading charity for young homeless people set out a policy agenda for young people. It said that young people want policies that are flexible enough to deal with the diversity of inequalities that exist amongst young people; make a difference on the ground by valuing sustained progress and evidenced outcomes for individual young people, not just organisational output targets; and recognise the extended nature of youth transition by challenging the view that youth transitions end at 19.

Comparing two large samples of people born in 1958 and 1970, a study examined changes between the two groups in their working and living arrangements as young people. It concluded that there is a clear need to refocus attention on the significant numbers of increasingly 'excluded' young people who cannot and will not benefit from improved educational opportunities.
